Traveling

For many young students, this summer may be the first time they travel abroad with their friends rather than the taking the traditional family holiday. What are you planning? Maybe it’s your first international music festival or a sporting tournament or simply heading off to explore new places and experience new cultures. Whatever it is there’s a whole world out there waiting to be discovered!

Work

Many students choose to work during the summer – either to gain valuable professional experience or simply just to earn money for future college expenses. If you are lucky enough to get a job in an area related to your studies, this can be a great opportunity to explore potential career paths or gain practical skills in your field of interest.

Volunteering

For some young students, the Summer before college could be a chance to do some volunteer work. Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community, support causes you care about, and develop your interpersonal and leadership skills. It can also be a chance to make a positive impact, gain a sense of fulfillment and a deeper understanding of the world around you. Plus, volunteering always looks good on a CV!

Prepare for college

Maybe you’d like to use the summer to prepare for your college journey. This can include activities like finding accommodation, buying necessary supplies, reviewing course materials, or attending Open Days offered by your future college. Any preparation you do now will serve you well in the future.

Relax

Congratulations on getting through the Leaving Cert! You’ve put a lot of hard work in and come through all that pressure, so maybe this summer you want to reward yourself and prioritize self-care and relaxation! This can involve spending time with family and friends, pursuing hobbies, enjoying leisure activities, reading, exercising, or simply taking a break to recharge your batteries.

Personal projects

Many students may have personal projects they want to pursue before college. Maybe you are into music and want to start a band, or focus on your sports training. Perhaps you’d like the challenge of learning a new skill or a language, or concentrate on a creative passions – whatever it is, this Summer is the perfect time to prioritise your personal projects!

Whether you’re jet-setting across the globe, rocking your summer job, or simply embracing the art of relaxation, make every moment count. Your college journey awaits, but first, let the summer extravaganza begin! Whatever it is you do this summer, do it for yourself and enjoy it! See you in college in September!!
