This course prepares the student for the vibrant, creative and challenging world of fashion. The course promotes awareness of current fashion industry trends, along with an understanding of the importance of good presentation skills.

You will learn research skills, how to produce initial design ideas and how to develop designs through to a finished garment. The studios are equipped with high spec manufacturing equipment, computers and all software needed to generate design work. Tutors and contemporary designers from the fashion world are at hand throughout the course to support and develop your skills.

Throughout the duration of this course, students will work on their own collections for the end of year show. The finished design will not only demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of fashion design but also of tailoring and garment finishing to a high standard. Successful graduates have a variety of career path opportunities: third level courses, a career within the industry or setting up their own business.

Professional Development, Contextual Studies, Individual Project, Techniques and Practices, Computer Aided Design, Fashion and Textile Practices, Surface Design, Pattern Cutting and Garment Making.

Entry Requirements

Level 5 – In general, the Leaving Certificate (including LCA) is required.

Exceptions made for mature students.

Samples of creative work (drawings, photographs and designs).

Level 6 – Leaving Certificate (including LCA), QQI level 5 in Fashion/or Art and Design related qualification, mature and postgraduate students welcome.

All applicants must upload 5 examples of creative work to the application login eg: fashion designs, sewing work, drawings, photography etc.

Students can progress from this course into Third Level Colleges in Ireland, the UK and abroad:
