Public Talk in Psychology: ‘Women in Education and Work’
Speakers: Clare King and Miriam King

This one-hour lecture will cast a psychological lens over the experience of women in the world of work. It will look at some of the psychological phenomena that impact girls’ academic choices and subsequent career paths. Psychological theories and research are used to explore the lived experiences of women in the workplace today, both as employees – and as bosses.

Public Lecture in Philosophy: ‘Iris Murdoch, Ireland, and the Supernatural’
Dr Miles Leeson

Dr Miles Leeson, is the Director of the Iris Murdoch Research Centre and to celebrated International Women’s Day, he will speak about the influence and work of Iris Murdoch. Dr Miles Leeson is the lead editor of the Iris Murdoch Review, the Series Editor of ‘Iris Murdoch Today’ with Palgrave Macmillan, and has published widely on Murdoch’s work.
He published Iris Murdoch: Philosophical Novelist (Continuum) in 2010, the edited collection Incest in Contemporary Literature (Manchester University Press, 2018), the festschrift Iris Murdoch: A Centenary Celebration (Sabrestorm Fiction, 2019), the edited collection Iris Murdoch and the Literary Imagination (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022) and is currently writing Iris Murdoch: Feminist.

Public Lecture in Theology: ‘Finding God in Video Games: Theology and Contemporary Culture’

Carlow College are delighted to welcome Dr Frank Bosman, Lecturer in Theology at Tilburg University to Carlow College. Dr Frank Bosman will deliver a public lecture titled “Finding God in Video Games; Theology and Contemporary Culture”. Throughout his lecture, he will explore religious symbolism and context through Videos Games. He will draw on a number of games including; “Metro Last Light”, “Child of Light” and “Far Cry 4”.
