Killester CFE is offering a one-year Data Analytics, QQI Level 5 Award in Software Development 5M0529.

Data analysts pull data from huge databases then gather and organise this data to provide information which can be used by businesses to make informed decisions.  Over the past number of years, there has been an enormous increase in the amount of data being collected resulting in a worldwide shortage of data analysts.  Data analytics is currently one of the top ten in demand jobs is set to continue to be as more and more organisations start working with big data. This course will give students a good foundation in data analytics and offer students progression to study data analytics to University degree level.

A student over 16 yrs seeking entry to this programme does not need a previous formal qualification.  However, the student must demonstrate at interview the capacity to successfully participate on this programme. Should the student have previous qualifications, one of the following may be advantageous for admission to the programme:

  • Leaving Certificate/LCA
  • QQI Level 4 Award
  • Applicants must have attained a Pass grade in Leaving Cert Ordinary Level Maths or equivalent
  • Students who have/are taking LCA or Leaving Certificate Foundation Maths must sit a short Maths test in Killester College as part of the Application process.
  • Students who may not have formal academic requirements but who have the ability to successfully participate on the course will be considered  (RPL Recognition of Prior Learning). They will also be asked to sit a short Maths test at application stage.
