Back-up Plans to 1st Choice on CAO
It is important when looking at post leaving certificate options to look at back up options to your 1st choice. Approximately 50% get 1st preference in CAO. Where ~80% get 1st, 2nd, 3rd CAO preference course. In 2021 some students on 625 points received no offer! Not only is it important to carefully consider and research alternate options, it is also important to look at back door routes. FET courses (Further Education & Training) offered in PLC Colleges (Colleges of Further Education), Institutes of Technology ( now evolving into Technical Universities) offer level 6/7 options, private colleges, colleges abroad provide an alternative route to your 1st preference on CAO.
You will get insight from careers guidance perspective along with college perspective and student experience.
We will be joined by NUIGalway + student/graduates on a Q&A panel sharing their decision making process and experience of taking an alternative pathway.
