This course will prepare you for a career in the construction industry, whether you want to work as a quantity surveyor and economic advisor or manager or as building development co-ordinator and manager.
Quantity surveyors are engaged in private practice as partners or employees in professional firms. They may also work for building/civil engineering contractors or sub-contractors, or in government departments, semi-state bodies and public authorities.
In this course, youll gain detailed knowledge and understanding of the technical, economic, legal, financial, managerial and administrative framework within which the construction industry operates. Youll also learn about the specialised areas of cost and value management, tender documentation, procurement, construction administration and management.
Graduates normally enter the job market as Graduate Quantity Surveyors who can work for general contractors, subcontractors, private-practice consultants, local authorities or any employer that manages costs related to new building, civil engineering, mechanical and electrical, oil or gas industry or refurbishment projects.

The flexible Higher Certificate in Electronic Engineering enables prospective students to progress to a Level 6 National Certificate in Electronic Engineering in a timeframe approximating to current full time delivery, but with significantly higher levels of participative flexibility, depending on their circumstances and capabilities.
The first year of this general entry course is a common year and students study the same fundamental modules with elements of hardware, software and electronic principles.
The Engineers Ireland fully accredited programme meets the academic requirements for the status of Higher Certificate (Level 6) in Building Engineering.
