Course Content

Established for over 30 years, the photography course has a well-earned reputation for producing high-quality graduates. Designed to provide an exciting and comprehensive introduction to those with an interest in photography, it will help to increase each student's knowledge and confidence as a photographer.

Throughout the course, students will investigate aspects of digital photography; studio lighting set ups and photoshop through post-production editing and image processing. Students will also take part in several field trips during the year.

Students receive a free Adobe CC software suite licence, for use in college and at home.

ERASMUS+
Eligible students may also be selected for work experience under the Erasmus+ programme abroad.

Education: NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees (Please refer to Information for International Learners) *Each provider may have additional requirements, not outlined above.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.
Career PathPROGRESSION:
On completion, students will have a strong Portfolio of images that will direct them towards employment; setting up their own photography enterprise; or entry into 3rd level courses. Students may apply through the Higher Education Links Scheme to a range of courses at universities and institutes of technology.
