After successfully completing Years 2 - 4 students are awarded a BA (Hons) Digital Business from IADT (DL869).

This exciting new 4-year Digital Business Tertiary Degree explores how digital technologies are transforming modern business practice. It introduces students to core business principles alongside key digital concepts, showing how organisations use technology to improve operations, engage customers, and create value.

Throughout the programme, students examine the role of digital tools, data, online platforms, and emerging technologies in business environments. The course develops an understanding of how digital business models work and how technology supports decision-making, communication, and innovation across organisations.

Students also gain insight into the wider business environment, including strategy, marketing, operations, and management, with a strong emphasis on their digital application.

Entry Requirements

This course is targeted at students with an interest in this sector and are hoping to either start their own online business or wish to develop the skills to support existing online businesses. A digital business uses tools like data, cloud systems, mobile apps, automation, and analytics to work smarter and serve customers better.

The programme is primarily aimed at school leavers who have an interest in digital technology and its interrelationship with business. It is also aimed at returners, LCA students and Leaving Certificate students who wish to undertake the first year of this degree in the supportive environment of Dublin College Dun Laoghaire.

This course is open to Leaving Cert Applied students who have an LCA with Distinction. award.

Since places on the course are limited, applicants will be called to an Advisory Meeting to ensure that they are suitable for the course. This Advisory Meeting is also a chance for applicants to ask any questions they may have about the course.

Entry Requirements

One of the following:

  • Leaving Certificate (LC Established, LCVP, LCA with Distinction.) or equivalent
  • A Full Level 4 QQI Award (or equivalent)
  • For mature applicants (aged 21 or over) - appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Applicants whose first language is not English require level B1 competency on the CEFR language framework. Applicants may be required to undergo English language testing to establish their language competency.

ERASMUS+

Eligible students may be selected for work experience under the Erasmus+ programme abroad in Year 1 in Dublin College Stillorgan.

You can also choose to complete one semester of Erasmus in the third year of the degree course in IADT with one of their European partnering institutes.

All Dublin College Dun Laoghaire students are provided with an M365 account, which gives them access to the tools and resources needed to deliver assessment work while attending their course. M365 Apps include Word, PowerPoint, Excel, outlook and OneDrive.

Work Experience

Students will be required to undertake a period work placement in an organisation connected to their vocational area during the academic year.  Work Experience is mandatory for all of our full-time Level 5 courses. Students are required to source their own work placement but will be assisted in this by the work experience teacher.  The work placement is usually for a period of 10 days or a minimum of 60 hours.  Students usually find the work experience element of the course to be invaluable and should bear in mind that a successful work placement can sometimes lead to further opportunities.
