Course Description

Structural Engineering (BEng Honours)



The course is taught primarily through lectures, practicals, and tutorials. A significant emphasis is placed on project and experimental work with site visits and field trips making up an integral part of the coursework. There is a continuing regional, national and international requirement for structural engineers with a knowledge of construction. Students may use appropriate work placement experience in the summer period between Year 3 and Year 4 to complete the module with assessment and credit allocated in Year 4. Third year students are offered guidance, advice and assistance with the necessary arrangements and approval for their work experience proposal in the second semester of Year 3.
