Aims

This QQI Level 5 & 6 Combined Special Needs Assistant Course is designed to meet the training needs of those working or volunteering as a Special Needs Assistant. The course aims to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of the role of the Special Needs Assistant and promote good practice among those working in the school system.

Entry Requirements

Minimum age is 17 Years. All learners must have a good standard of English.

Currently the Department of Education and Science stipulates that all those gaining full-time employment in schools must have at least 3 passes at Junior Certificate or equivalent.

Assessment/Examinations

Continuous assessment

Students are require to do a 60 Hour work experience during the course if they are not already working in the area.
