Course Description

CK 406 Chemical Sciences

CK406 Chemistry is the study of the properties and behaviour of all matter. As such it is often considered to be the ‘central science’ and provides a scientific understanding of molecules and how they react together, leading to exciting new developments in the use of the advanced materials we see around us in the world today. The CK406 entry area gives you access to four different degree programmes in Chemistry, Chemistry with Forensics, Chemical Physics and Education in Physical Sciences. There are no specific Leaving Certificate laboratory science subjects needed for this entry area. If you particularly enjoy Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics as Leaving Certificate subjects, are happy working in a laboratory environment and enjoy the challenge of experimental investigation and research in the physical sciences, then CK406 may be the CAO entry area for you.
